सुरेन्द्र नाथ बनर्जी 10 नबम्वर 1848 से 6 अगस्त 1925 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय आन्दोलन के प्रमुख उदारवादी नेता थे। उन्होने बडी लगन और परिश्रम से आईसीएस कि परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण कि थी। उन दिनो आईसीएस कि परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करना बहुत कठिन था परीक्षा उत्तीर्ण करने के बाद भी सुरेन्द्र नाथ बनर्जी को किसी प्रावधान के आधार पर रोक दिया गया इसी बीच 1877 में आइसीएस में प्रवेश कि आयु 21 से घटाकर 18 वर्ष कर दी गयी जिसके फलस्वरूप भारतीयों के लिये बैठना असंभव ही हो गया समस्त भारतीयों के शिक्षित वर्ग के स्वर में स्वर मिलाते हुए सुरेन्द्र नाथ बनर्जी ने सरकार कि इस भेदभाव पूर्ण नीति का विरोध किया इस कारण उन्हें उनके पद से हटा दिया गया वे ऐसा चाहते भी थे। उनकी हार्दिक इच्छा भी थी कि भारतीयों के राजनीतिक हितों और उददेश्यों की पूर्ति के लिये प्रबल जनमत तैयार किया जाये। इसके लिये उन्होने आंन्नदबोस के साथ मिलकर इंडियन एसोशिऐशन कि स्थापना कि।
भारत के वैधानिक शासन कि स्थापना के पक्षधर सुरेन्द्रनाथ बनर्जी भारतीय सभ्यता और संस्कृति के उत्थान के लिये अनेक कार्य किए 1890 में कांग्रेस द्वारा सर्वप्रथम सुरेन्द्रनाथ बनर्जी के नेतृत्व में ब्रिटिश सरकार के विरूद्व भारतीयो के अधिकारेां के लिये आवाज उठाई उन्होने 1879 में बंगाली नामक साप्ताहिक से दैनिक बनाया और पत्र के संस्पादक के रूप में अंग्रजों के अत्याचारों कि बखिया उधेडने लगे 1880 में बंगाली पत्र पर मुकदमा चलाया गया जिसमें बनर्जी को दो महीने के लिये जेल हो गयी जेल से छूटने के बाद वे पुनः बंगाली का पूर्वत संपादन करने लगे उन्होने एलबर्ट बिल, लार्डकर्जन के यूनिवर्सिटी विल, कालकाता कारर्पाेरेशन बिल आदि जिस अनोखे अंदाज में प्रभावशाली विरोध किया उससे उनकी लोकप्रियता बहुत बढ गयी। 1883 में वह बंगाल नरमदल वालो के अधिवेशन कांउसिल के सदस्य निर्वाचित हुए 1918 में नरम दल वालों के अधिवेेशन में उन्हे ंसभापति मनोनीत किया गया उनकी उनकी विद्वता को प्रणाम करते हुए 1921 में ब्रिटिश सरकार ने उन्हे ,सर, की उपाधि प्रदान कि थी।

Surendra Nath Banerjee 10 Nabamwar 1848 to 6 August 1925 was the prominent liberal leader of the Indian National Movement. He passed the ICS examination with great diligence and diligence. In those days it was very difficult to pass the ICS exam, even after passing the examination, Surendranath Banerjee was stopped on the basis of any provision, meanwhile, in 1877, the age of admission in the ICS was reduced from 21 to 18 years which resulted in seating for Indians. Surendranath Banerjee, who was in favor of the establishment of the legal rule of India, did many things for the upliftment of Indian civilization and culture. In 1890, the Congress, under the leadership of Surendranath Banerjee, first raised the voice for the rights of Indians against the British government. In 1879, he called the daily from Bengali weekly Made and began to expose the atrocities of the British as the editor of the letter In 1880, a Bengali letter was prosecuted in which Banerjee was jailed for two months and after he was released from prison, he began to re-edit the Bengali. He introduced the Albert Bill, the University Will of Larkarken, the Calcutta Corporation Bill, etc. in such a unique way as to impress effectively His popularity increased greatly due to this. In 1883, he was elected a member of the Bengal Council of Sessions Council, in 1918, he was nominated as the Chairman at the Session of the soft party, in 1921, the British Government awarded him the title of Sir, in recognition of his scholarship.
