इससे बडा अन्य कोई प्रेम नहीं
आज हम बात करेगे एक ऐसे क्षण कि जहां से मनुष्य कि सोचने समझने कि क्षमता नष्ट हो जाती है ऐसे में किस तरह साहस भरे फैसले लिये जाए बात है द्वितीय विश्वयुद्व कि जब 1941 में समुद्री पनडुब्बीयों का युद्व अपनी चरम सीमा पर था। मध्य अटलाटिक में ब्रिटिश जहाज अन्सेल्म पर तारपीडो के दो हमले हुए। सुबह अंधेरे में जहाज पर भगदड मच गयी। कुछ लाइफबोट खेाल रहे थ्ेा,कुछ भाग रहे थे तथा कुुछ पानी में उल्टे-सीधे गिर रहे थे।
सेसिल पघ (एक पुरोहित) बीमार था। वह अपनी रात कि पोशाक में ही उपर आया और लोगो को दिलासा देने लगा। उसे अपनी परवाह नहीं थी। इसलिये भगदड कुछ कम हुई शेष बची हुई सुरक्षा नौकाओं को आराम से नीचे उतारा गया। फिर भी बहुतों को उनमें जगह नहीं मिली । पघ ने उन्हें अपनी जान बचाकर पानी में कूदने को कहा।
उसने देखा कि एक आदमी घबरा रहा है उसने उसके कंधे पर हाथ रख कर कहा , भगवान के सहारे कूद जाओ। वह कूद गया ओैर जीवित बच गया उसी व्यक्ति ने यह विवरण सुनाया।
अंत में पघ को पता चला कि कुछ सैनिक उस तलहटी में फसं गये है जहां तारपीडो से छेद हो गया था। बचाव असंभव था। लोग घायल भी हो गए थे तथा उनके बचने कि उम्मीद नहीं थी उसने तलहटी कि ओर जाने वाले मार्ग पर खडे कुछ नाविकों को कहा कि वे उसे रस्सी से बांध कर नीचे उतारें सार्जेन्ट ने मना कर दिया। उसने कहा पादरी महोदय यदि आप नीचे जायेगें तो कभी वापस उपर नहीं आ पायेगें।
पघ ने जोर देकर कहा मृत्यु के भय कि बजाय ईश्वर में मेरा विश्वास अधिक है। मैं वहीं जाउगां जहां वे लोग घिरे हुए हैं।
नाविको ने उनकी आज्ञा का पालन किया उन्होने उसकी कमर में एक रस्सी बांधी और उसे नीचे उतारा । उन्होने देखा कि पघ घायल व्यक्तियों के पास पहुंचा और उसके साथ प्रार्थना करने लगा जब पानी पघ के कंधो तक आ पहुंचा तो शेष नाविक वाहर कूद पडे और इस तरह वे जीवित बच गये।
बाद में उसे मरणेांरांन्त जार्ज क्रास से सम्मानित किया गया।
साहस कभी भी अपने आप नहीें प्रदशर््िात होता। यह प्रेम,श्रद्वा,या आदर्श और विश्वास के सहारे चलता है। शायद प्रेम के बाद साहस ही अत्यधिक महिमावान वस्तु है।

Today we will talk about such a moment from where the ability to understand the thinking of man is lost, how to take courageous decisions in such a situation is the Second World War, when in 1941 the war of sea submarines was at its peak. Two torpedoes occurred on the British ship Anselm in the Middle Atlatic. There was a stampede on the ship in the morning darkness. Some lifeboats were playing, some were running and some were falling upside down in water.
Cecil Pagh (a priest) was ill. He came upstairs in his night dress and started to comfort the people. He did not care for himself. Therefore, the stampede was reduced to a minimum, the remaining security boats were lowered down comfortably. Still many did not find a place in them. Pagh asks him to save his life and jump into the water.
He saw that a man is panicking. He put his hand on his shoulder and said, jump on the support of God. He jumped and survived and the same person narrated the description.
Finally Pagh finds out that some soldiers are trapped in the foothills where the torpedo pierced. Avoidance was impossible. People were also injured and they were not expected to survive. He told some sailors on the route leading to the foothills that the sergeant refused to tie him down with a rope. He said, Pastor sir, if you go down, you will never come back up.
Pagh insisted that I have more faith in God than fear of death. I will go where those people are surrounded.
The sailors obeyed his command, tied a rope to his waist and lowered him. He saw that Pagh reached the injured persons and started praying with him. When the water reached the shoulders of the Pagh, the remaining sailors jumped out and thus they survived.
Later he was awarded the posthumous George Cross.
Courage would never appear on its own. It runs on love, faith, or ideals and faith. Perhaps courage is the most glorious thing after love.
